Altenew June 2025 Inspiration Challenge

Here I am once again doing the Altenew Inspiration Challenge. Doing creative challenges give me a good push to use more of the many Altenew products that I seem to keep collecting but not being very good at using.

The colors in this months challenge reminded me of the colors used on everything in the 1970s. We had kitchen appliances in avocado green when I was growing up. And Altenew's newest Craft Your Life: Bold & Beautiful stamp and the font used for the sentiments has such a 70s vibe that I knew I had to put them together for this challenge.

I started out by stamping the image onto a white piece of cardstock and then used the coordinating stencils to ink blend using Altenew's Fresh Dye Inks from the Golden Sunset, Tropical Forest, and Coffee Break sets. Once I was done with the ink blending, I used Copic Ciao marker E43 (Dull Ivory) to color the white areas around the image.

I knew I wanted to do an embossed sentiment but couldn't decide what color cardstock to do it on so I embossed it on both a white and black piece of cardstock and as you can see the black won. I felt like the card need something more so I used a Karin Marker Decogel pen in Gold and just "painted" over the smaller flower centers to step up the card a little more. After trimming down the image panel I layered it on another piece of Altenew Moss cardstock and then onto a layer of Neenah Desert Storm cardstock.

Even after the sentiment and the gold flower centers it still felt like it need just a touch more. So I used some Altenew Moss cardstock and die cut the leaves from the coordinating die set. They just didn't work for me so I decided since I had the embossing supplies out to tip the edges of the leave with a little Versamark and Altenew Antique Gold embossing powder. That made a huge difference and just felt like the right touch.

Honestly I wasn't sure I was going to like this set when I original saw it in my Craft Your Life subscription sneak peek email. I am loving how this turned out and can't wait to see what else I can create with this set using some different colors and layouts.

Time Out Challenge #291

I have seen Ishani at Quillish post on Instagram several times about the Time Out Challenge and finally took a minute to see what it was all about. Challenge #291 is a photo challenge and I took my inspiration for the colors and the theme. I tried to keep similar colors as the photo and since the photo is of shells I went with a beachy theme.

Being someone who loves the beach I was surprised to find this Waffle Flower Tropical Sunset stamp set was the only beach themed supply I own so I went with it. I have been purchasing a lot of the Waffle Flower Postage Collage products but have only ever used one of them so it was definitely time to pull some out to play and I will absolutely be playing with more of them.

Using Lawn Fawn inks in sugar cookie, peachy keen, wild rose, guava, raspberry, and juice box I ink blended the colors using my favorite Altenew small blending brushes. I stamped the images using VersaFine Clair Nocturne ink. The sentiment is an older Hero Arts stamp set that has to be at least 15 years old but it has so many useful sentiments.

This was a fun challenge that stretched my creative brain a little and I look forward to doing it again.
